Pool Certification Requirements in Sydney

Glass Swimming Pool Barriers

Glass swimming pool barriers must comply with the provisions of AS1288. To confirm they do comply with swimming pool certification requirements, they must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s directions.

Where homeowners self-install, they should be careful to follow these directions to the letter, using products as recommended and/or supplied by the manufacturer.

When dealing directly with the manufacturer/retailer/installer of a Glass swimming pool barrier, always ask them for certification in writing, as we are obliged to ask you.

Installing glass swimming pool barriers to a deck

When installing glass swimming pool barriers to a deck, to ensure stability and longevity of the barrier make sure all supporting posts/spigots are secured by bolting into the main structural components supporting the decking and not just the decking boards. This may require the installation of additional structural members to fully support the new barrier.  Existing structural members may require strengthening to achieve an acceptable result.

Remember we are certifying your swimming pool for a period of 3 years so we need to be sure that the strength and rigidity of the barrier is up to standard and capable of remaining secure for at least that period of time.
